RESUMEN
El objetivo de la investigación ha sido determinar si existe una relación lineal y positiva entre la oferta monetaria y la inflación en el Perú, en el periodo 1970-2010, tal como lo propone la teoría monetaria de la inflación.
Con los datos sobre la oferta monetaria y la inflación obtenidos de las estadísticas publicadaspor el BCRP, se ha descrito la evolución de cada una de las variables a través de cuadros y figuras para observar su estructura y su tendencia y luego hemos estimado las regresiones entre los componentes de la oferta monetaria y la inflación así como sus coeficientes de correlación y de determinación. Así mismo, hemos realizado el análisis de los resultados de dichas estimaciones y las pruebas dehipótesis correspondientes que nos han permitido redactar nuestras conclusiones y recomendaciones.
Los resultados de la investigación, muestran la evidencia empírica que en el Perú durante el periodo 1970-2010, mientras la oferta monetaria tuvo una tendencia creciente, la inflación tuvo un comportamiento cíclico, lo cual se ha expresado en coeficientes de regresión no significativos, como semuestra en la prueba de hipótesis, y un coeficiente de correlación de signo negativo y reducido, con un coeficiente de determinación que solo explica el 3,16 % de la regresión, todo lo cual nos lleva a aceptar la hipótesis principal nula de que no hay una relación lineal y positiva entre la oferta monetaria y la inflación en el Perú en el periodo 1970-2010.
ABSTRACT
The aim of the investigationhas been to determine if there exists a linear and positive relation between the monetary offer and the inflation in Peru, as the monetary theory of the inflation proposes it, in the period of 1970-2010.
With the information on the monetary offer and the inflation obtained of the statistics published by the BCRP, the evolution has been described of each one of the variables across pictures andfigures to observe his structure and his trend and then we have estimated the regressions between the components of the monetary offer and the inflation as well as his coefficients of correlation and of determination. Likewise, we have realized the analysis of the results of the above mentioned estimations and the tests of corresponding hypotheses that have allowed us to write our conclusions andrecommendations.
The results of the investigation, they show the empirical evidence that in Peru during the period of 1970-2010, while the monetary offer had an increasing trend, the inflation had a cyclical behavior, which has expressed in not significant coefficients of regression, since it appears in the test of hypothesis, and a coefficient of correlation of negative and limited sign, witha coefficient of determination that alone explains 3,16 % of the regression, everything which leads us to accepting the principal null hypothesis of which there is no a linear and positive relation between the monetary offer and the inflation in Peru in the period of 1970-2010.
