Internet Usage Among International Students

INTERNET USAGE AMONG OVERSEAS STUDENTS IN NAVITAS ENGLISH

Making new friends instead of looking for sex, romance or a serious relationship is the goal of use internet for overseas students inNavitas English, according with a research elaborated by students from Navitas English for students of the same class in 2011.
The study involved 17 overseas students, with an average of 22 years old,from different countries as a China, Japan, Filipinas, Vietnam, Polish, Thailand and Korea. The country with the highest number of the student was China with 41.17% of the respondents. The questionarywas brought among the students from Academic English level 3 class # 2, during the classes; we introduced ourselves and explained what was the questionary about; after 10 minutes we collected theanswers and the whole class #1 processed the data with the help of the teacher.
The research revealed that 94% of the students are looking for new friends when they are using the internet. It suggeststhat communication trough internet is becoming a common activity nowadays, providing a convenient channels to increase social contact with others through virtual communities.
Based on this report Sex isnot the focus of students in NE, just the 23.5 of the respondents have visited a sex site and, none of them have ever gave the credit card details to view a sex site.
Social network, like Facebook,twitter, Hotmail, msm, yahoo, Gmail etc, are the main reasons for using internet. Over the half of the students in NE (52.98%) are reported that they search in internet for social activities,whereas 35.3% of the respondents said that they use internet for relaxation and escape; and just 11.76% reported that they use internet for academic purposes.
Lie on the internet is most common that whatwe thought, 64.7 of the students have admitted that they had lied on internet, 45.45% of them have lied about appearance, 36.36% have lied saying the age, 27.27% reported having lied about gender...
