Action plan to improve communication and involvement

between parents and school.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the connections can be established between parents and school to ensure effective communication to allow the participation of parents in the process of teaching and schooling of their children, as this canimprove the process positively, Los Parents can contribute ideas and knowledge that complement the action of the school and teachers, so as to strengthen and encourage the development of the system, academic and social programs. Now there are a number of communication opportunities are available for teachers. This research identified some strategies such as meetings, interviews, conferences, chat andtext messaging between teachers and parents, notes, e-mails and others. It is important to emphasize that in this study raises some of the tools but the plan must be adapted according to individual needs of each teacher and school.

Action plan to improve communication and involvement between parents and school.

Epstein (1995) suggests that family involvement in schools leads tooverlapping spheres of influence between home, school and community. In other words, involve parents in the school system uses a very useful tool for the development of all members participating in the educational process.
Although many teachers refer family involvement with student success, better education and a positive school climate, some think they can not improve the level of familyinvolvement in their classrooms (Epstein, 1992)

One of the roles of teachers and the school is to promote communication in this process of exchanging messages and ideas can help solve problems and find new ways to contribute in developing a more integrated community. Communication is paramount, because it offers opportunities to all involved in education to share, understood and respectedTeachers must know what tools can be used to engage parents and to maintain communication between schools and parents; here we list some tools that can contribute to this goal:

• Meeting: this tool can be done with all parents of school, when you want to deal with issues involving points for communication in general, only the parents of a specific level or class, especially when youwant to communicate features of a particular student, can also be raised with the community. The regularity of these meetings will depend on the specific needs of the school, community and teacher, (which may be monthly, bimonthly or quarterly.) Arellano N, (2000) stated that meetings are a technique that allows the teacher address issues or problems that

arise in a given situation, itmeans not only aspects related to the learning process but also school-related issues, such meetings should be conducted according to an objective and according to plan, Since the success or failure of these is the responsibility of the facilitator, in this case the teacher must take into account certain factors when making any type of meeting.

• The Interview: is an opportunity thatis presented in school, to foster communication between teachers and representatives. It is therefore important that teachers know what the interview and how to do. This technique is also used to obtain specific information of a student through a direct conversation, the difference between this and a personal meeting is that this should be as a free, but advance the teacher must have a guide oran outline of questions to guide the conversation.

• Chat with the teacher: this is a technique that provides the technology and is able to send text messages between teachers and parents, this helps maintain a communication easy and accessible

• Promote activities and programs for parents in school.: It is a way to prompt meetings where parents can meet each other, know...
