General Information of Ireland
Languages
There are two official languages that are spoken in Ireland. Irish and English. Irish is less spoken that English, and is divided by linguists into OldIrish from the 6th to 10th century, Middle Irish from the 10th to 13th century, Early Modern Irish until the 17th century, and the Modern Irish spoken today.
Language shift during the 19th centuryreplaced Irish with English as the first language, Less than 10% of the population of the Republic of Ireland today speak Irish regularly outside of the education system.
Geography location
The islandof Ireland is located in the north-west of Europe, to the west is the northern Atlantic Ocean, to the south is the Celtic Sea, to the east is the Irish Sea.

Economy:
In 2005 study by The Economist found Ireland to have the best quality of life in theworld. Ireland was ranked as one of the wealthiest countries in the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) and the EU in 2008. But the global recession has significantly impactedthe Irish economy. Economic growth was 4.7% in 2007, but -1.7% in 2008 and -7.1% in 2009, in 2011 the PIB was $217,275 Dólar.
