Jamaica is a tropical island in the caribbean sea, to the south of Cuba and west ofHaiti.




Jamaica has green mountains and sunny white beaches.  The rivers and waterfalls sparkle with beautiful waters.  Jamaica has warm days all year long. It rains a lot there, becausethe air is moist.  In most parts of Jamaica, jungles grow very thick and green.  
When Christopher Columbus first visited Jamaica, he described it as the fairest isle that eyes have seen. Fivehundred years later, more than a million visitors travel to Jamaica annually to see for themselves this island that has been winning over and over the prestigious World Travel Awards, "Best CaribbeanDestination."
Jamaica is 146 miles long and 51 miles wide occupying an area of 4,400 square miles. The population is just over two and a half million with high concentrations in the cities andsurroundings, especially Kingston, the capital. English is the official language of Jamaica

The flag of Jamaica was officially adopted on August 6, 1962.
The black is symbolic ofhardships suffered in the past, green represents the fertile land, and yellow the shining sun. In addition, black, green and yellow are Pan-African colors, and pay tribute to Jamaica's significantAfrican heritage.

People of Jamaica
The Most of the people in Jamaica are descended from the African slaves from long ago.  Most immigrants come from China or India.
