Nations: Japan
Politics:
• Japan has a Parliamentary government with a constitutional monarchy (lead by prime minister, also has emperor)
• Japans independencewas in 660 B.C.E., Japans most current constitution was made in 1947
• Judicial: chief of justice appointed by the monarch, the other positions by the cabinet
• Executive: prime minister is YukioHatoyama, he appoints the cabinet
• Legislative: Kokkai (house of counselors) elected every three years, prime minister can dissolve at any time
• There are five major political parties: DemocraticParty of Japan, Japan Communist Party, Komeito, Liberal Democratic Party, Social Democratic Party
• Japan and South Korea have disputes of the Liancourt Rocks islands
• Japan and North Korea havebeen almost in the verge of war and believe North Korea has nuclear weapons
• Japan submitted non combat troops in the Iraq war but were removed shortly after
Economics:
• Japan is the third largesteconomy after the U.S. and china in the world
• Japan is heavily dependent on imported raw material and fuel for the industrial sector
• Japan provides 15% of the global catch of fish and sea product(fish, shark fin…)
• Japan had a 0/01 inflation rate in 2007 now it has a 1.4 inflation rate in 2008
• Japan economic industry consists of mostly chemicals, electronic, vehicles, steel and textiles• Japan has few natural resources, but their agricultural resource is mostly rice
• Robotics should become a main economic source in the future
• In 2008 approx. 66.5 million people work in thelabor force
• Currently 5.7% of people are unemployed, In 2008 Japan had a 4% unemployment rate, and 1% in 2007
Social System
• A behavior code originally copied from Germany in the 1900’s is stillknown and commonly followed by everyone
• Women had arranged marriages and were very oppressed and materialized in the past
• Most people bow to great each other especially in terms or respect...
