ello, my name is Paola Valencia and today I will talk about Giraffes
Giraffes live in Africa and are the highest living animal species, males can grow up to5.5 meters in height, weighing 900 kilograms.
Their long neck is not different from ours and has seven vertebrae but it is longer and they use it for manythings, such as combat.
Because of this long neck they must have a big heart, which pumps a lot of blood so the giraffe can get blood to its brain.
Giraffe´snose is curious, nostrils can be closed at will, in order not to get dust when wind blows strong.
Giraffes are the mammals that sleep least, an average of twohours a day, but with naps of 5 or 10 minutes.
Giraffes are usually silent, but only to the human ear, as many of their calls are through infrasound.Giraffes can eat up to 65 pounds of leaves a day and chew all that food several times, as they are ruminants that chew food, swallow it, process it, and spit itback into their mouths to chew again.
their black tongue is extremely long, 50 centimeters, it’s used to surround and break even strongest spines. It is used toclean their ears.

Giraffes usually live for many years up to 20 or 30 years. Much time is spent inside the mother, since gestation lasts between 14 and 15months. The "small" pups, usually measure 1.8 m in height, and a few hours after they begin running around, without distinction of breeds. Since they are veryprotected by their mothers during their early days, about 25 and 30 percent of giraffes usually reach adulthood.
