KOSOVO RECOGNIZION
The close relationship between Russia and Serbia also interfere with Serbia’s decision of not letting Kosovo be an independent country. Serbia learned from Russia’s errors, forexample, in the World War I Russia ended loosing several territories for example Ukraine, Finland, the Baltic provinces, the Caucasus and Poland, and with that problem Russia suffer several problemswith other parts of their territories claiming for their independence too. Learning from other countries errors in the past, Serbia know what was coming if they let Kosovo gain their independence, theywill suffer numerous problems economically and politically.
Serbia fears that Kosovo gets its independence because they could lose certain part of territory and national income from people. Kosovo isan important part of their territory measuring an area of 10,908 cm2 and having a population of 1.8 million citizens most of them Albanians. Serbia stems from concern about the potential precedentthat would be set by redrawing boundaries along ethnic lines and the likely impact this move would have on the integrity of the borders of Macedonia, Montenegro, and Bosnia. However, Serbia cannotcomplain too much because only 5% of the population of Kosovo is Serbian people.
In conclusion we can say that Russia and Serbia fears that the situation pass the borders and cause a problem in all theregions. This made a conflict in Kosovo because they want their freedom and their own rights. With the variables, we demonstrate that the most important thing that prevents Serbia to declare Kosovo asan independent country is the fear that Serbia as country has. The purpose of this essay was fulfilled because we can demonstrate the reasons that forced the countries to oppose this movement and thefears that they face.
