I Chapter summary ( 10 points)

Este cuento narra la historia de un amor inconcluso que desemboca en un suicidio.
El joven y Marchesa eran amantes, ella era casadacon Mentoni.
Esto empieza cuando el narrador va en una góndola por un canal de Venecia y escucha un grito despavorido de una mujer. Era la voz de Marchesa a quien se lehabía caido desde sus manos su pequeño hijo al canal. Mucha gente en la oscuridad de la noche trató de ayudar, pero nada lograron.
De pronto desde una oscura ventana deuna antigua construccion salta un hombre quien rescata a la criatura y la entrega a su padre Mentoni. En ese momento el joven se encuentra con Marchesa , su enamorada, conquien acuerdan secretamente un plan. Al amanecer del día siguiente casi al mismo momento en que al joven amante le están avisando que Marchesa había muerto envenenada , élmoría de la misma forma.
