obesity and diabetes

Diabetes is a medical condition that can be controlled by current medical methods but it cannot be cured. The life of a person with diabetes is forever altered. Most Americans have to eat what is more profitable corporations even if that means living with a bunch of chronic diseases for the rest of our lives. Most of usare used to consuming empty carbohydrates, hydrogenated oils and excessive amounts of sugar. With the poor diet and the sedentary lifestyle of most Americans today it is difficult for an average person to take control of their weight. A person that cannot control their weight is more prone to suffer from chronic illnesses like diabetes.
Diabetes is characterized by disordered metabolism andinappropriate high blood sugar resulting from low levels of insulin or from abnormal resistance to insulin effects coupled with inadequate insulin secretion from the pancreas. Diabetes is a disease of the pancreas. The pancreas is in charge of producing hormones and digestive juices. They produce the hormones insulin and glucagon. Insulin is secreted when blood glucose is high and stimulates theuptake of glucose by muscle cells and liver cells. Glucagon is secreted when blood glucose is low and stimulate the breakdown of glycogen in the liver. Glycogen is then used as form of energy.
The symptoms of the disease are progressive . They usually start mild and then progress to more severe symptoms. Diabetes often goes undiagnosed because many of its symptoms seem so harmless. Recent studiesindicate that the early detection of diabetes symptoms and treatment can decrease the chance of developing the complications of diabetes. (1)

Some of the common symptoms are:
frequent urination
unusual hunger
unusual thirst
unexplained weight loss
blurred vision
itchy or flaky skin
sores that do not heal
excessive fatigue
Irritability
Recurrent skin, gum, and bladder infectionsThere are three types of diabetes, diabetes type 1, diabetes type 2, and gestational diabetes. Diabetes type 1 usually develops at an early age, it is hereditary, meaning it runs in families. Type one diabetes occurs when pancreatic cell are attacked and cannot produce insulin, therefore insulin injections are needed. Diabetes type 2 occurs almost always during adulthood and it tends to occur more inobese people and people that have a sedentary lifestyles. their cell do not respond to insulin therefore drugs are needed to make the body more receptive to insulin. Diet and exercise are an important part of a healthy lifestyle but people with diabetes type two diet and exercise are a must.
Gestational diabetes usually occurs late in the pregnancy and most of the time it disappears after thebaby is born. It is believed to be caused by the hormones of pregnancy or a shortage of insulin. in a small percentage of woman, diabetes doesn’t go away after the pregnancy and it becomes type 2.
Diabetes is a deadly disease because it affects every system of the body. Some of the most well known complications are eye complications lie retinopathy which occurs is patients who have had diabetesfor at least five years. (2) Also leakage of protein and blood in the retina may lead to blindness. Cataracts and glaucoma are also higher among diabetics. Kidney damage from diabetes is also called diabetic nephropathy. The kidneys start passing protein in the urine and eventually losses the ability to cleanse and filter blood. The accumulation of toxins in the urine leads to the need for dialysis.Dialysis involves using a machine that serves the function of the kidney by filtering and cleaning the blood. Nerve damage in diabetes is called diabetic neuropathy and also caused by poor circulation in the small blood vessels. Blood flow to the nerves is limited. Leaving nerves without blood flow damages them or die as a result. This disease is also known as ischemia. Symptoms include...
