RESUMEN
La Dirección General de Bosques del Vice-ministerio de Conservación Ambiental del Ministerio del Ambiente y de los RecursosNaturales es el ente dentro de la Administración Pública Central del Estado venezolano que tiene la competencia legal para formular, ejecutar y supervisar las políticas públicas en materia forestal para bosques y plantaciones, sobre bienes maderables y no maderables y servicios del bosque, encuadrada dentro de la política ambiental venezolana cuya objetivo macro es la conservación, defensa ymejoramiento del ambiente mediante el uso racional de los recursos forestales para el beneficio colectivo dentro del criterio del desarrollo sustentable. La Política forestal está definida aún cuando le falta mayor precisión, los entes competentes por la materia están creados y tienen sus recursos, y las leyes relativas a esta materia están promulgadas y de muy diversa índole, pero aparentemente falla laautoridad o el ejercicio de la misma en los actos y circunstancias en los cuales se requiere la toma de decisiones firmes y ajustadas a derecho, para regular eficientemente el cumplimiento de la política forestal por aplicación oportuna de las normas vigentes por parte de los entes responsables legalmente.

ABSTRACTThe Forest General Direction belonging to the vice-ministry of environmental conservation, part of the Environment and natural resources ministry is the office within the public administration at Venezuela that has the legal responsibility to create, apply and supervise the forestry public policies both for forests and plantations related to wood and non wood products as well as forestenvironmental services, as a part of the environment public policy which stands for conservation, defense and improvement of the forest resources to benefice the community in search of the sustainable development. The forest policy is set but needs better accuracy, the organization responsible for the subject is working and has economic resources, law is plenty and diverse, but it seems like we lack of theauthority or the strength to enforce it at the mean moment when firm and definitive decisions have to be taken according to public law, in order to enforce the accomplishment of forest policies by the strict application of law for the competent offices.
