Mr. Jekyll should not be guilty because he has a multiple personality disorder that won’t let him have control of his acts. This disease it is a mental disturbance in wich the personality becomeassociated intro two or more distinct parts each of which becomes dominant and contro behavior from time to time to the exclusion of the other parts. Mr. Jekyll was one of the unluckies people who hadthis disease. I’m not agree about that people who had this disease pay for something that they don’t even know what they do.
The symtp more often of MPD are the next. An innate ability to dissociateeasily. Amnesia, deersonalization, derealization and indentity disturbances. And this people has to follow a treament of MPD-DID patients generaly involves long term recovered memory therapy thetechniques are used to coax the patient into remebering what they feel are repressed memories of sexual and physical abuse during chilghood. Finally in 1980 the america psychiatric association officiallyrecognized multile personality disorder as a genuine emotional illness, but in the time of Jekyll this treatment wont exist and neather they don’t know about this disease like we already know.
Todaythis people have their own rights in the courts. And know instead of punish them by sending them to jail they help them to get over with their disease. Back in Jekyll’s time they wont understand thisand they only look for a guilty not for trying to help him. If they would knoe this on those year I shure that they would do the same thing and they would try to help Mr. Jekyll.
