The first barcode patent was registered in October 1952 by the inventors Joseph Woodland , Bernard Silver and Jordin Johanson in the U.S.. The implementation was made possible by thework of engineers Raymond Alexander and Frank Stietz. The result of their work was a method to identify railroad cars using an automatic system. However, it was not until 1966 that the bar code wasfirst used commercially and was not a commercial success until 1980.
The 'bar code' is a code based on the representation by a set of parallel vertical lines of different thickness and spacing, whichtogether contain certain information, ie the code bars and spaces represent small strings. Currently, the barcode is massively implemented globally

Fast freight stock control.
The consumer gets a list of items on the sales receipt allowing testing and eventual claim. It prints at a low cost.
It has very low error rates.
Quickly capture data.
Teams reading and printing barcode are flexible and easy to connect and install.
It automates the recording and trackingof products.
The information is processed and stored based on a binary digital system where everything is summarized sequences of ones and zeros. The central memory and logical decisions is astandard type electronic computer, already available on many commercial and generally support the various brands and models of choice in each country. This equipment also allows interfacing between...
