Actual Situation on Education
The National Congress will meeton Tuesday the draft of the new Basic Education Act, a document that took shape with the Roundtables with the participation of teachers, students, parents, workers, unions, universities and people ingeneral.
The document consists of 69 items, unlike the 1969 law, which has 152, and sets the broad outlines of the national education system and maintains the structure proposed by the Roundtables andthe proposals of the departments and the general public .
After the presentation there will be tours of socialization around the country to prepare the opinion that the legislature will return andso will develop this process of reform in which everything is done transparently and without cheating, as they have recognized the sectors involved.
Legislative president, Juan Orlando Hernández,said that this law will be one of the great legacies that this Congress will leave to future generations and the country.
Hernandez has called this process of reform as the "most democratic exercisein the history of Honduras, as the document comes from the contributions of the people, communities, And not an elite."
For several months, the seven Roundtables (Foundations and Education Fair,Structure of the Educational System, System Administration, Educational Model, Teaching Career and Professional Development, Community Participation and Education Bilingual Education Pluribilingüe)worked hard in document that will change the destiny of Honduras, according to planners.
Areas
The Fundamental Law of Education is so complete that provides education to prisoners and children andyouth at risk.
It also establishes the compulsory English language education at all levels, beginning with preschool (pre-kindergarten, kindergarten or school).
