El mantenimiento productivo total, cuyas siglas TPM
(Total ProductiveMaintenance ) nace en los años 70. 20 años después del inicio del mantenimiento preventivo.
Las metas del mantenimiento TPM son:
Maximizar la eficacia de los equipos.
Involucrar en el a todas las personasy equipos que diseñan, usan o mantienen los equipos
Obtener un sistema de mantenimiento productivo para toda la vida del equipo:
Involucrar a todos los empleados, desde los trabajadores hasta losdirectivos.
Promover el TPM mediante motivación de grupos activos en la empresa

ABSTRAC
The TPMis at present one of the fundamental systems to achieve the total efficiency, on the basis of which it (he, she) is feasible to reach the total competitiveness. The current trend to improveincreasingly the competitiveness supposes raising to the unison and in a maximum degree the efficiency in quality, time and cost of the production and involves to the company in the TPM together with the TQM.As a system destined to achieve the elimination of six big losses of the equipments(teams), to the effects of power to make the production feasible " Just in Steals ", which(who) has how basicaims(lenses) the systematic elimination of wastes.
These six big losses are situated direct or indirectly related on the equipments(teams) meeting place to reductions in the efficiency of the productivesystem in three fundamental aspects:
· dead Times or unemployment of the productive system.
· Functioning to speed lower than the capacity of the equipments(teams).
