Obras Robert Louis Stevenson

Nos hayamos ante un entorno social marcado por el tradicionalismo clásico del Siglo XIX. Curiosamente en el ámbito cronológico el autor no nos desvela con precisión el año en que nos encontramos, por lo que nos resulta muy difícil realizar cualquier tipo de paralelismo con la realidad histórica. A la hora de reseñar una fecha, lo realiza señalando únicamente los dos primeros dígitos evadiendo asíencuadrar perfectamente la obra en un año determinado.
Los aspectos sociales más sobresalientes y reseñables de la historia que nos ocupa se enmarcan en una Inglaterra tradicional y costumbrista detallada por unos valores muy marcados y un alto sentido del honor. Se intenta reflejar a lo largo de toda la obra las luces y sombras de la alta sociedad inglesa, resaltando por una parte las virtudesde todos sus personajes como por ejemplo todas las costumbres y educación típicamente inglesa y de otra la falsedad que marca los caracteres de los que ambicionan poder.
Es también de importancia la ignorancia que sufre la mujer en el desarrollo de la obra, pues se le da un tratamiento muy sucinto resumiéndose sus apariciones personificadas en sirvientas y demás personal de servicio.

* The Master of Ballantrae (1889), a masterful tale of revenge, set in Scotland, America, and India.
* The Wrong Box (1889); co-written with Lloyd Osbourne. A comic novel of a tontine, also filmed (1966).
* The Wrecker (1892); co-written with Lloyd Osbourne.
* Catriona (1893), also known as David Balfour, is a sequel to Kidnapped, telling of Balfour'sfurther adventures.
* The Ebb-Tide (1894); co-written with Lloyd Osbourne.
* Weir of Hermiston (1896). Unfinished at the time of Stevenson's death, considered to have promised great artistic growth.
* St. Ives: being the Adventures of a French Prisoner in England (1897). Unfinished at the time of Stevenson's death, the novel was completed by Arthur Quiller-Couch.
