Childhood Obesity
One of the major problems today´s society is facing up is obesity. This illness has expanded itself to younger populations, having cases even in infants. Childhood obesity has increased in the last century due to globalization, and the new tendencies in nutrition. The biggest restaurantfranchises of junk food have expanded their territories even to third world countries. People do not handle these places intelligently and they eat junk food immeasurably. The younger population has gotten used to this and that is why in actuality it is more common to see a fat kid than it was a century before.
The project´s objective is to perform a statistical analysis to determine the cases ofchildhood obesity in the students from fifth basic to seven basic, to promote awareness of what obesity really means, and how they could prevent, detect, and treat this illness.
I wanted to this project because children are our future, but what future is secured having increasing number of infants with signs of obesity? None! Obesity deprives children many happy moments. It is not thechild's fault; but his upbringing. Some parents pay little importance to the signs of obesity. They are not able to accept that their child is developing this disease with their lifestyle, or they do not want to stop coddling their child, and cannot say no when their child asks for junk food. With the evolution of society, there has also been a development in the food industry, such as the pioneer junkfood franchises worldwide. In third world countries it has become a real problem because people have a lack of knowledge in nutrition and health. This is why a good knowledge on prevention, detection and treatment of obesity is a necessity, so children can lead a healthy and good life.
