Fistly, we should introduce that ´The Onion Diagram` shows the manifestations of culture at different levels of depth.
The elements are symbols, heroes, rituals and values.
The culture from León is going to be analyse according to this model.
León is a region in the North of Spain where I grew up and Ilive. That is the cause why I choose that region
The Values
They are not moving a lot. They mostly remain the same. They still can subconsciously play a role in the present.
It is how people believe things ‘ought to be’, what they hold dear to them. This level is invisible.
The values desirable for this Spanish region are the monogamy.
The society is more conservative comparing to the South ofSpain. The family and social relationships are very important for people from León.
Its population is more concerned about what people may say. That is a consequence of the small size of the city, so everyone know each other.
People is closer at the beginning and the friendship is very valued.
An interesting point is we celebrate important events as birthdays or good news with great meals.Food is one of the most important basis in the Spanish culture.
The Rituals
The Spanish meal time is totally different from the rest of Europe and León is not an exemption. We wake up later (7-8am), we take an snack at mid-day before having our lunch at 2-3pm. We take another snack at 5-6pm called merienda. We have dinner at 9-10 pm or even later.
The nightlife is our lifestyle. That is whySpanish party is so famous.
People form León loves going for tapas. That activity consists on taking beers or wine in the most famous street in León, El Barrio Húmedo. The key is that each bar has its own tapas and it give you that food totally free with your drinks.

The Heroes
Football is one the most important references in Spain , as everyone knows. Therefore, football players can be idolsif they represent fair play, team work, with great desire to improve and leadership.
Some of them are Iker Casillas and Pep Guardiola.
Amancio Ortega, the founder and creator of Inditex Group, is the perfect example and model of a successful business man because He is a self-made multibillionaire. However, he is a discreet and humble man. He also does philanthropic activities with hisassociation giving school grants to study abroad.





The Symbols
The most representative symbol of León is its emblem, composed by a lion which is the English meaning of the original Spanish name of the city, León


Besides, when you think about León you will always remenber its emblematic cathedral. It is one of the most beatiful cathedrals in Spain.
The church has nearly 1,800square meters of stained glass windows. The great majority of them date from the thirteenth to the fifteenth century: a rarity among medieval gothic churches
