1. ABSTRACT
The purpose of this work is to show how in our days countries
have been changing their capacities of production and consumption of oilproducts, every year oil production and consumption have a unexpected
turn and countries, as well as the petroleum enterprises, have to adapt
themselves to continue fighting in the oil economic world. Besides, there
are future problems related with the oil consumption and production
decrease, this problems of oil consumption in the future revolve around
two factors: population and the increasing usefrom developing countries.
A chart of the US Census Bureau’s world population shows that population
is expected to increase steadily over the first half of the this century. (What
it doesn’t show is any drop in population that might be caused by oil decline
from wars, recessions, famine, etc). More people means more demands
for fuel, energy, plastics and food, all highly dependent on oil. In theten
years from 2010 to 2020, the world population is expected to rise from 6.23
billion to 6.96 billion, an extra 12% to be fed, supplied and energized.
Along with population, the other factor is the increasing use of oil in
developing countries, countries which, up to now, had been contributing
little to consumption. Furthermore, World oil demand is forecast to grow
50 percent by 2025. to meetthat demand, ever-larger volumes of oil will
have to be produced. Since oil production from individual oil fields grows
to a peak and then declines, new fields must be continually discovered
and brought into production to compensate for the depletion of older fields
and to meet increasing world demand. If large quantities of new oil are not
discovered and brought into production somewhere in theworld, then
world oil production will no longer satisfy demand. Peaking means that the
rate of world oil production cannot increase; it does not mean that
production will suddenly stop, because there will still be large reserves
remaining.

LA REALIDAD DEL PETRÓLEO EN NUESTROS DÍAS
El último informe de BP sobre la producción de petróleo revela algunos datosútiles para atisbar cuál es el futuro que se nos presenta de forma inmediata. El
más llamativo es que en este último año Estados Unidos, Emiratos Árabes
Unidos, Canadá y Rusia han sido los únicos países productores de petróleo que
han visto crecer sus cifras de producción. El resto han vivido un escenario de
retroceso generalizado mientras el consumo total ha aumentado ligeramente.
Además, elcrecimiento experimentado por Estados Unidos ha pasado al registro
de los mayores aumentos de producción de la Historia, un registro dominado por
Arabia Saudí, que ahora encara números rojos junto a países como Siria, Irán o,
marcando el mínimo de 2013 en este sentido, Libia.
También son negativas las cifras de Kuwait, Noruega, Reino Unido, Australia,
Nigeria, Brasil y Venezuela. En pocas palabras, elmercado productor de petróleo
se ha polarizado durante este último ejercicio mientras la demanda global
continúa en ascenso. Y esa polarización lleva por bandera, en el lado positivo.
las barras y estrellas de Estados Unidos, que se ha encaramado a los 10,003
millones de barriles diarios (Mbd), frente a los 8,892 Mbd que produjo en 2012
(+13,5 %). Esto queda ya bastante cerca del máximo histórico deEstados Unidos
(11,297 Mbd en 1970) y sitúa al país americano en el tercer productor mundial
de petróleo, justo por detrás de Arabia Saudí (11,525 Mbd, -1,1 %) y Rusia
(10,788 Mbd, +1,3 %). Dejando de lado el caso de Arabia Saudí, los otros países
de la OPEP, salvo los Emiratos Árabes Unidos, también pasan horas bajas.
