Abstract
Cognitive psychology focus on the scientific study of behaviors and mental process by examining and describing all human aspects associated with thoughts, perception, feelings, and actions. Cognitive learning explains the mental process of learning that takes place within. Cognitive learning explains the process of attention and perception while the learning process is taking form.Today psychologist’s focus on memory as a series of steps information is processed and received. Information bombards our sense and our abilities to process information. Therefor we turn to sensory registers where information enters and waits similar to a waiting room; information enters and stays for a short period of time. Attention and perception are cognitive behaviors based on awareness andstimuli. Understanding the connection between attention and perception is important to help highlight key points regarding perception and attention and the mental processing. In this paper the authors defines attention and perception concepts while breaking down perceptual organizational process and analyzing that nature of attention using specific examples.

Our brain contain billions of cells arranged in overlappingpathways and networks acting as a mental back-up system accessible when needed (Morris & Maisto, 2003).

Attention and perception are cognitive behaviors based on awareness and stimuli. Attention is a needed purpose because at any given moment during the filtering process at the nervous system entrance allows only certain stimuli that meets certaincriteria to pass through this pertains to the concept surrounding paying attention. Attention is necessary in everything we do on daily basics. Attention is part of our short term memory processing also known as working memory.
Today many psychologist’s find it useful to think about memory as a series of steps in which information is processed, stored, and retrieved similar to a working computer(Massaro & Cowan, 1993). This means at any given moment we are in the process of processing information to make meaning out of it for further processing. Stimuli that pass through the filtering process are compared with what is already known this is so that it can be figured out what this mean. Perception is the information present in the stimuli based on the larger discipline of psychologyit’s a continuous process. Perception is the brains interpretation of sensory information so as to give it meaning. The two also deals with the association of short and long term memory process.
