➢ Introduction: Since my sister was pregnant at the time I was attending this course, I thought it was thebest of excuses to start writing poems to express my happiness and joy. Therefore, -this letter and the latter poems you’ll find here-, will be the first written proof of affection to her and my niece.Hi, Gorgeous!
It’s been a while since we were both writing letters back and forth from time to time and for special occasions; which brings me to now, the most especial occasion ever! You’re a mumand I’m an auntie! Martina has been the best gift you could have ever given to me!. I’m starting anew now. The two of us are reborn together with your own daughter. From now on, all the questions willbe answered, all the fears will be whipped away with Martina’s smile. I’ll measure time by the growth of Martina’s hair, the length of Martina’s smiles. Because nothing wakes me more to life than asound coming from your newborn daughter.
Martina has come to turn my world upside down, as you did when you arrived 22 years ago. I wanted to do for her what she did for me that cold April night whenshe arrived. I want to tell my niece, the owner and forever queen of my heart,:”welcome, this is your family, and no one will ever love you more than us, because you’re everything and every part ofthis new world that we’re creating for you”. And to you, my beautiful gift from life, god, and the universe, I’d like to tell you that, since you were born and forever since, you’ve made me proud. Everyone of your accomplishments was mine in a way, my desire to protect you, take care of you and being there for you hasn’t been diminished.
