Percy Jackson and the lighting thief: Book vs. Movie
Percy Jackson and the lighting thief is the first in a series of books by Rick Riordan. They followthe adventures of the young boy, Percy and his friends Annabeth and Grover, to different parts of the world and to the Olympus.
The book was published in 2006 and the film has been long awaited incoming.
I first read Percy Jackson and the lighting thief in the year it was published and heard about the film adaptation later on. Initially, I thought that it would be an impossible to be captureon screen. The book deals heavily on the imagination of the reader. It is ultimately your own imagination that determines how you judge this book. Riordan’s description of events at Percy’s life allowsthe reader to escape into another world. The moment you pick up the book, you are living out every fantasy you had as a child. Was it not everybody’s dream at one time to be told you have specialpowers and soon to become hero?
Percy Jackson and the lighting thief starts with the life of Percy Jackson, dyslexic and hotheaded, has been kicked out of yet another school. But stranger things arehappening around him, and soon he finds himself at Camp Half-Blood, a refuge and training ground for children of the Greek gods, who are still around and causing trouble for humans. He notices that hisdyslexia is caused by his brain being hardwired for Greek, and his hotheadedness is because, well, he's a hero. All too soon he discovers which god is his father, and that he is a pawn in a titanicbattle between the gods that may ignite World War III. Accompanied by a daughter of Athena and a young Satyr, Percy is sent to retrieve Zeus' lightning bolt from Hades, who supposedly stole it. Butthings are even more complicated than he and the gods imagined, and there are dangerous plots afoot.
My first concern with the film was the adaptation. In the movie Percy Jackson is older at least...
