SIMPLE PRESENT

USES

• We use simple present to talk about habits or routines in daily life.

I read 2 hours each day. She walks her dog since 2009.

They work every Saturday from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm. Peter takes a shower at 4:30 all days.

• We use simple present to talk about real facts.

Mexico City has a lot of pollution.

Doctors help people. SomeEuropean countries have kings or queens.

Presidents work in favor. Sometimes people behave better in public.

Affirmative sentences:
I/we/you/they play football.
He/she/it plays football.
NOTE: he, she, it - Do not forget the -s.
Negative sentences:
We use the auxiliary do.
I/we/you/they do not play football.
He/she/it does not play football.
NOTE: We often use short forms innegative sentences in the Simple Presen:
I/we/you/they don't play football.
He/she/it doesn't play football.

Questions:

Do I/we/you/they play football?
Does he/she/it play football?
A) Negate the sentences.

Example: He works on the computer. - He does not work on the computer.
