EFECTOS PSICOLÓGICOS EN EL CUIDADOR DEL PACIENTE CON ALZHEIMER

PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECTS ON THE ALZHEIMER PATIENT CAREGIVER


RESUMEN

Es a través del análisis de los efectos psicológicos en el cuidador del paciente con Alzheimer, y de lograr identificar los factores de riesgo para esta afectación en los cuidadores de pacientes con la enfermedad, que se podrán establecer correctivos. Laenfermedad de Alzheimer no solo afecta al paciente y a su familia, se ha convertido en un problema de salud social, pues cada día son más las personas afectadas por esta enfermedad (Abengozar, M.C. y Serra, E. 1997). Los cuidados que estos pacientes ameritan tienen un gran impacto en la economía familiar, pues el costo del tratamiento de un paciente con Alzheimer es de 140 Mil bolívares al añoaproximadamente, existen pocas instituciones de salud pública que cuenten con los recursos económicos y la disponibilidad de personal que se correspondan con el incremento en el número de pacientes, desde el punto de vista práctico son pacientes de difícil manejo en sus propios hogares. A través de nuestra investigación demostramos que un 65% de los cuidadores tienen una afectación psicológica; deesta un 32% presentan algunos signos de depresión, un 12% presento grados de agresividad ante el paciente, un 8% presenta problemas de atención y el 13% manifestaron agotamiento o estrés por el cansancio (síndrome de BURNOUT). La investigación es de tipo cuantitativa ya que nos muestra el porcentaje de afectación psicológica en los cuidadores de los pacientes con tal enfermedad; Los cuidadores depacientes con Alzheimer están expuestos a una serie de factores de riesgo, determinados por el grado de afectación de su paciente al cuido, los cuales pueden repercutir de forma directa en su salud mental, por ello propiciar ambientes que estimulen a los pacientes con Alzheimer desarrollar sus sentidos sensitivos, preparar a la familia para los diversos momentos de shock de modo que la integraciónalcance una atención social en su entorno.

ABSTRACT
