LAS CAUSAS DE LA EXPANSION
One objective was to obtain a better understanding of these distant lands, as well as finding an easy passage through the Rocky Mountains to facilitatecommunications with the Pacific.
The importance to the United States of this vast territory lay primarily on access to the Mississippi River would give their goods from agricultural centers to the Gulfof Mexico.
Another cause was that they were loosing power in the congres because all the people was imigrating to the North so they wonted to regain some power. Having more territory they would havemore people.
The slave states wonted to legalize slavery in the empty lands,it was a great oportunity to promote the slavery.
there were many speculators who had the desire of seeling the landsuninhabited and get rich, this help for the expansion.
Also,the industrialists wonted new markets,wonted more people,and going to the west means more buyers.
For someones it was excitement and anadventure .
The lands in the west were cheap, it was an oportunity to the comon people to by lands and start having a better economy,it was a chance to make a new start in life
Also the expantion wasgood for the sacke of security,going to the west the power would be distributed and would eliminate foreign power of U.S. And of course Manifest Destiny, the U.S. must spread its sistem of govermentacross the continent because that was its God-given destiny.
COMO FUE LA EXPANSION
In 1803, the Louisiana Purchase sparked interest in expansion into the West Coast. A few weeks after making thepurchase, President Thomas Jefferson, a believer in the westward expansion, was the one who convinced the congers to give economic aid for an expedition to the territory.
