The following research paper is about Spanish Red Cross. There has been very interesting the search of the information about this topic, since it is nearby to us and we have easy access to it. For it, I have chosen this topic, besides for being interested in activities that are realized inside this association as the voluntary work or interesting courses as that of first aid.The information has been obtained from the official web of Spanish Red Cross, where is explained widely the origin, functions, members of the organization, objectives… of the above mentioned organization. The rest of the information was obtained by a brief interview to some members of the first-aid post of the Red Cross, in the locality of Las Rozas de Madrid. In addition, I have consultedsome personal opinions by e-mails in the forum of the Red Cross, where I am now inscribed.

During the Civil War, from 1936 to 1939, SpanishRed Cross made an important activity, and when this one finished, it carried out the repatriation of the Spanish people who were in the USSR.

In the seventies, the institution completed the first-aid post network on Spanish roads. It was a new answer before communications by road advance, that produced a car increase and, consequent, a traffic accidents increase that need a fast response.

Alsothe tasks of help in the sea began, which are one of the services most known and valued from the public opinion inside the See Cross.

In the sixties and especially in the eighties, Spanish Red Cross activity increased quantitatively, and new actions and services appeared. From1985 a deep reorganization begins with the democratization of the institution, the voluntary participation waspromoted, the aperture to new fields of action, etc.

But it is fundamentally in the nineties when the big modernization of the Institution and its adaptation to new challenges which the Spanish society was bringing up, take place. This consisted in the social intervention with the vulnerable collectives (major persons, refugee and immigrant, affected of AIDS, drug dependent, infancy and youth,...
