Regular subject-verb-object sentence structure
Subject + Verb + Object combine to make basic English sentences.

"She drinks milk."

Subject: who/what the sentence is about.
Verb: What the subjectdoes/is.
Object: a person or thing that is affected by the action of a verb.

Examples:
Singular subjects take singular verbs:
"He works in an office."
Plural subjects take plural verbs:
"They work inan office."

Noun clause as subject
A noun or noun clause may be the subject of a sentence. Noun clauses are often preceded by an introductory word or expression such as 'That' or 'The fact that'. Thisconstruction is always followed by a singular verb. It is generally used only in formal written English (e.g. That the problems are immense is obvious). In spoken English it is more common to find ananticipatory 'it' construction (It is obvious that the problems are immense).

Gerund as subject
The gerund (-ing form) no carries information about tense, person or number. While the subject ofthe gerund clause is often omitted (understood from context) it may be kept in a possessive form (he → his, she → her, us → our, etc.)

Example:
Using a computer saves a lot of time.
Our using acomputer saves a lot of time.

It’s + adjective + infinitive
We use the expression "It is + adj/noun to" to emphasize information by bringing it to the front of the clause. The subject of an infinitiveclause is optionally expressed as [for + noun] (or the accusative pronoun).

Example:
It's difficult for me to guess what will happen each day.
It's hard to know when a rat will get loose.

ConditionalFrequently, the conditional is used to express probability, possibility, wonder or conjecture, and is usually translated as would, could, must have or probably.

Example:
If I had time, I would go tothe movies tonight.
