I Yoanny Paola Oriach , would like to request a tuition fee waiver , due to lack of knowledge and being misinformed on a letter Ireceived my about my financial aid status. I have only lived 5 months in the United States of America, entered the country on October 17, 2011. Being 19 yearsyoung my first goal was and still is to receive an education, I was told and shown where Hudson County Community College, not speaking any English went in on myown and requested information on taking classes. I came back with all the documentation required and filled out financial aid and chose the courses I wanted totake. About a week later on Dec 15, 2011 I received a letter which I included, stating that I was ineligible for financial aid. That brought all hopes down asfar as going to college, and since I was ineligible I thought that no longer accepted and all the paperwork was together i thought I didn’t have to go backand withdraw the classes I registered for. When I received a bill from the school I called to find out the reason why I was being billed if I never took anyclasses when that’s exactly what I wanted to do. I found out that my financial aid was approved but I never received any notice other than being ineligible, and itwas too late to start class. In conclusion I hope that you would understand my reason for requesting a fee waiver, not speaking any English, no experience on howthings work here and not having anyone around to show me every step on this matter.
