Analysis

In the poem ¨Cloony the Clown¨ by Shel Silverstein, he uses metaphor and organic imagery to set a depressing tone and try to make the reader feel uncomfortable.
“And every time he losta shoe, Everyone looked awfully blue” (Shel Silverstein), This sentence use metaphor because it says how sad the people were when they went to the circus and Cloony the clown was there telling hisjokes, in this part of the poem it does not means that the people turned blue it is just representing how mad they were and how boring it was when he was doing his tricks and jokes.
This poem also usesorganic imagery because it is so sad that you almost can feel what Cloony the clown was feeling for example “He told of Pain and Rain and Cold, He told of Darkness in his soul” (Silverstein) This isa part of the poem that shows the organic imagery in this poem.
In this poem he creates a depressing tone and you can realize that when you get to the part where Cloony the Clown is talking abouthow he feels, you do not really know what to think at this point of the poem because it is funny that everyone is laughing at him but it is also sad because no one understands him.
“And he told themall why he felt so bad. He told of Pain and Rain and Cold”(Silverstein) This is a sentence that really caught my attention because it is amazing how with just this few words you can say and almost feelhow sad Cloony the Clown was and you realize why he was not funny at all.
This poem uses lots of interesting quotes and it’s a poem where you can realize how a great poet can change the whole storywith just saying a few words because in this poem where you are reading the first part you can think that Cloony the Clown was just not funny at all but when you get to the second part where he saysall his story you realize why he was so boring.
In this poem it is used a lot of feelings like sadness, boringness, angriness but if you see the poem it does not talk about happy feelings it is just...
