One of the issues that is widely discussed and debated concerning the United States economy is healthcare system. Unlike in the majority of developed and developing countries, the healthcare systemin the United States is not public, meaning that the state does not provide free or cheap healthcare services. In Canada or Great Britain, for example, the government funds healthcare providers throughtaxes, and such a system is called social. The United States, on the other hand, being a profoundly capitalistic country, opted for another route and passed the burden of healthcare spending onprivate consumers as well as other institutions such as employers, insurers, etc. American healthcare system is the most expensive one in the world. Canada has universal health care and The United Stateshas profit-oriented health care. In other words, Canada’s system is much more humane than The United States’.
The first and most important difference in these two countries is the price of healthcare. Canada has a totally free system in which patients (citizens) have not to worry about any cost in any procedure or treatment they receive. The state covers all their expenses with the money theycollect in taxes. The United States, on the other hand, expects everybody to pay his/her own medical bill. So the treatment s and procedures people take are the ones they can afford and not necessarilythe ones they really need. It turns health into a business, making this service more and more expensive every year.
The conditions of free and paid health care influence in the accessibility to theservices. In Canada just by being a Canadian, you have full access to all medical institutions. As the institutions are public, there is no conflict in being assisted in one or the other. In theUSA, you need a health insurance to be fully accepted in hospitals or clinics. As every patient must potentially leave revenues, they don’t give insurance to those who most need it, so those people...
