Slipknot is a nu metal band formed in 1995 in Des Moines, Iowa since 1999, maintains its formation after various changes to it. Its members are Chris Fehn, Corey Taylor, Craig Jones, James Root, Joey Jordison, Mick Thompson, Paul Gray, Shawn Crahan and Sid Wilson, all of whom used masks.

 Slipknot uses two types of guitar (main and rhythm), bass, two percussionists, along with a singlebattery, and electronic instruments and samplers or mixers. The band's sound has been described as "a threshing machine devouring a military drum corps." Frontman Corey Taylor also incorporates various vocal styles, such as growling, melodic singing and rapping, while the letters in usually have an aggressive tone. The band's influences include, among other genres, death metal, black metal and heavymetal, but usually included regularly in the nu metal.

 Slipknot's beginnings date back to 1992. The band underwent many lineup changes before the release of their successful self-titled debut in 1999. They have released three other albums, Iowa and Vol 3: The Subliminal Verses, on August 26, 2008 was released her fourth album, All Hope Is Gone.

Early Years (1992-1998)
