Introduction
In this article is intended to explain the different methods to apply nanoparticles of Ag and Cu on textiles.
First, size of nanoparticle provides an important effect on the physicals and chemicals properties, as conductivity, catalysis and fluorescence. Below the particular level, the metal band structure begins to disappear and discrete energy levels become dominant, and quantum mechanical rules replace those of classical physics.
The geometric shape of nanoparticles it’s important. Furthermore, a singleheat treatment can modify a particle shape, resulting in even change in their optical properties plasmon resonance. We ask the question:
What is involved in nanotechnology?
* It is not only a change in size.
* The surface area increases dramatically.
* The objects in the nanometer size are governed by quantum mechanics.
When nanoparticles are in solution, molecules associate with thenanoparticle surface to establish a double layer of charge that stabilizes the particles and prevents aggregation. Aldrich Materials Science offers several silver nanoparticles suspended in a dilute aqueous citrate buffer, which weakly associates with the nanoparticle surface. This citrate-based agent was selected because the weakly bound capping agent provides long term stability and is readilydisplaced by various other molecules including thiols, amines, polymers, antibodies, and proteins.

Nanotechnology in textiles
Today, the use of nanotechnology has allowed textiles to become ‘multifunctional’, and the first commercial entries of nanotechnology have recently been made into the ‘textile arena’.
The emergence of an ability to create, alter and improve textiles at the molecularlevel, and to enhance their durability and performance beyond those of existing textile products, is already clearly visible. Yet, in order to continue this favorable trend, the global textile industry must not only contribute generously to research efforts in nanotechnology, but also intensify its collaboration with other disciplines. Nanotechnology represents a means of adding value to a product, andmay also serve as a valuable tool in generating extra revenue for an already hard - pressed textile industry. The twofold focus of nanofinishing in textiles will be:
1) To upgrade the existing functions of textile materials, and
2) To develop ‘smart’ textiles with unprecedented functions.

Antibacterial activity
These particles can be incorporated in several kinds of materials such ascloths. These cloths with silver nanoparticles are sterile and can be useful in hospitals to prevent or to minimize infection with pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus.
The results showed that cotton fabrics incorporated with silver nanoparticles displayed a significant antibacterial activity against S. aureus.
Smaller particles with a larger surface area were more efficient in theantibacterial activity tests.
The fibers having silver nanoparticles (30 nm size) in sheath-part showed excellent antibacterial effects. Textile fabrics with antibacterial efficacy were easily achieved using nanosized colloidal silver particles (2–5 nm size), by padding process on cotton and polyesters.
Silver nanoparticles can be coated onto polyurethane foams in diverse forms.This...
