Autumn Flowers
Lindsey. That was her name. My sister´s name. She was beautiful. I remember she had a long curly dark brown hair, and a pair of light blue eyes that bared your soul.
We used to playhide and seek, that was our favorite game, and we draw the sun with heart-shaped sun glasses. One day my mom was making dinner, daddy wasn´t at home, and Lindsey and I were playing our favorite game.It was her time to hide.
Mom left the stove on and went outside because she thought she heard something. While I was counting outside, the kitchen went on fire immediately.
Lindsey was upstairs,hiding in our closet, she didn´t notice that the whole house went on flames.
My mom didn´t came back, and I turned around and saw hell itself. I started to scream out her name but she wouldn´t hearme. I waited crying for her to come back, but she never did.
I fell asleep in that same spot. When I woke up, after 11 hours of sleeping, I saw a really beautiful flower I had never seen it before.It was orange with brown, and a long stem. I looked up to the window of our room and saw another flower there. I came into the house, went up the stairs, expecting to see Lindsey’s ashes there. Butthe entire house was in order and my room was perfectly clean. There was no Lindsey, but there was a flower, the same flower I saw outside, and a note saying:
Dear Amy:
That isn´t fair. You didn´tlet me count! It was your turn to go hide. Anyway this game was fun! I hope we can play later on when you catch up.
If you are asking yourself “why wasn´t I responding to your calls outside thehouse?”, it is because I didn´t hear you that´s all. I´m writing this letter so you can be relaxed about this. Okay? Remember I´M A PART OF YOU.
