REVIEW OF SPIRITED AWAY
千と千尋の神隠し
This animation of Hayao Miyazaki is a masterpiece considered the most successful film in Japanese history.
Spirited Away is based onthe adventures of Chihiro and her journey into the spirit’s world, wherein Chihiro becomes separated from everything she has known and the only way to come back home is justkeep remembering her real identity. That’s when she discovers the value of family, friendship and affection.
The writer has made lots of animated movies that make everywestern spectator realize the greatness of the eastern culture.
Walt Disney Pictures dubbed the English adaptation of Spirited Away, under the supervision of Pixar animatorJohn Lasseter a big fan of Miyazaki’s films. The cast of the film consisted of Daveigh Chase, Susan Egan, David Ogden Stiers and John Ratzenberger.
Acclaimed byinternational critics, the film is often considered amongst the greatest animated films of the century and as a result, it won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature at the 75thAcademy Awards. (It beat off the competition of lilo & stich, ice age, spirit: stallion of the Cimarron and treasure planet becoming the first and only Japanese film to winan Oscar) the Golden Bear at the 2002 Berlin International Film Festival and the Tokyo International Anime Fair 2001 Best Music Award in the Theater Movie category.
Personalopinion:
It has an excellent plot, amazing music and unimaginable graphics .It’s only perfect because it's full of fantasy and strange things you normally wouldn’t thinkof, and it takes you to another place so I guess that is why it is my favourite movie.
NOTE: watch it if you appreciate cultural & not the ordinary American movies.
