ABSTRACT OF SUMMARY (English - Ingles)

One denominates armament race to the competitive coexistence of armaments and development of technology during the Cold War between the United States and Soviet Unión. This way to be combat ready was based, exactly, in the danger that anyone of both blocks could unleash a war of nuclear reach. Carried out the military and armament collaboration by bothblocks in the different conflicts like the Arab-Israeli ones, Korea, Vietnam and Cuba, was destined to fortify and to expand its power in front of the opposite block.

The space and astronomical domination also was constituted as a sign of superiority of a power on another one. In 1957 the Soviets placed the first Sputnik satellite in orbiting the planet; months later sent Sputnik II, placinginside the Laika dog, first alive being in leaving to the space (that could not return with life since contact with the atmosphere was burned when taking). In counterpart, the Americans sent Explorer I in 1958. In the same way, the USSR sends in 1961 the ship Vostok I, with Yuri Gagarín on board, first human in going and returning alive. On the other hand, the United States developed the missions 8Apolo and Apolo 11, obtaining in first of them descrying the dark side of the moon.

Since the armament races are product of the insecurity perceptions and threat that exist between the countries, the repeated enunciation of its existence by means, experts and civil servants can generate propitious conditions for its activation. For this reason, it is important to have clarity on the same term.That is to say, a country responds to the military cost of another one increasing the own one, in a logic of action and own reaction of the call “security dilemma”.



INTRODUCCION
Se denomina carrera armamentista a la coexistencia competitiva de armamentos y desarrollo de tecnología durante la Guerra Fría entre Estados Unidos y Unión Soviética. Este modo de estar en alerta sefundamentó, justamente, en el peligro de que cualquiera de ambos bloques pudiera desencadenar una guerra de alcance nuclear.
La colaboración militar y armamentista llevada a cabo por los dos bloques en los diferentes conflictos como el árabe-israelí, Corea, Vietnam y Cuba, estaba destinada fortalecer y expandir su poder frente al bloque contrario.
La dominación espacial y astronómica también seconstituyó como un signo de preponderancia de una potencia sobre otra. En 1957 los soviéticos colocaron el primer satélite Sputnik en orbitar el planeta; meses más tarde lanzaron el Sputnik II, colocando dentro a la perra Laika, primer ser vivo en salir al espacio (que no pudo regresar con vida ya que se quemó al tomar contacto con la atmósfera). En contrapartida, los americanos lanzaron el Explorer I en1958. Del mismo modo, la URSS lanza en 1961 la nave Vostok I, con Yuri Gagarín a bordo, primer humano en ir y regresar vivo. Por su parte, Estados Unidos desarrolló las misiones Apolo 8 y Apolo 11, logrando en la primera de ellas divisar la cara oculta de la luna y en la segunda, pisar suelo lunar.
Dado que las carreras armamentistas son producto de las percepciones de inseguridad y amenaza queexisten entre los países, la enunciación repetida de su existencia por los medios, expertos y funcionarios puede generar condiciones propicias para su activación. Por ello, es importante tener claridad sobre el término mismo.
. Es decir, un país responde al gasto militar de otro aumentando el propio, en una lógica de acción y reacción propia del llamado “dilema de seguridad”.
