Albert Einstein
Albert Einstein was born in Germany in 1879, born of Jewish parents. He was a physicist, later nationalized as American and Swis. He is considered the most important scientificof the twentieth century, besides being the best known.
The Theory of Relativity was formulated by Albert Einstein, The Theory, which is a difficult one, even for adults to grasp, was first workedout by Einstein in 1905 and later expanded by him into his general Theory in 1915.
What Einstein did, was to work out mathematically certain laws of light, Energy and gravitation which changed theold ideas about the structure of the universe. Einstein stated, for instance, that light was bent by gravitational attraction. This was proved four years later by observations made during an eclipseof the sun.
The importance of Einstein’s Theory is that it enabled scientists to discard old ideas which had been leading their calculations astray, and to make great advances in their knowledgeof the universe. Leading man to the brink of space travel.
On April 17, 1955, Albert Einstein experienced internal bleeding caused by rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm, which had previouslybeen surgically enhanced by Dr. Rudolph Nissen in 1948. He took the draft of a speech that he was preparing for a television appearance to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the State of Israel withhim to the hospital but he did not live to complete. Einstein refused surgery, saying: "I want to leave when I want. It is tasteless to prolong life artificially. I've done my part, it's time to go.I'll do it with grace." He died in Princeton Hospital (New Jersey) in the early hours of April 18, 1955 at the age of 76.
