The Andean region of Colombia is the most populous area and the most economically active area of the entire Andes, with around 34 million inhabitants.
Within the territory of Colombia it is dividedinto three ranges, Western, Central and Eastern , leading to numerous valleys, canyons, plateaus and river system whose main rivers are the Cauca and Magdalena.
The three Cordilleras are mainly ofvolcanic peaks over 4,000 meters. The Central and Eastern have peaks over 5,000 meters covered with permanent snow. Many of these volcanoes are active.
The Andean region has most of the country's waterresources as well as the most productive land for agriculture and livestock. Its subsoil oil, emeralds, salt and other mineral resources are exploited.
Bogota, Cali and Medellin, the three most popularand economically powerful cities in the country are in the Andean region. Cucuta, with an important economic development and its proximity to Venezuela, Bucaramanga is a city that is very advanced inindustrial and social development. Then there are the cities of the Coffee Pereira, Manizales and Armenia (the three capitals of the coffee).
In the Andean region it is more than 80% of the country'scoffee crop, mainly distributed in the Coffee Region Antioquia, Tolima, Cundinamarca and Norte de Santander.
The tourist infrastructure is well complete with hotels, inns and ecotourism farms in eachof the departments with a good way of communication allow us to explore these areas in a very easy way that fills us with every country through which it passes away.
