Summary:
This movie starts with a young woman, Skeeter; she came back from her studies to visit her family and friends. This movie is settled like in the 60´s, where the black people where segregated. All the white women treat their maids liketrash; literally, they were so racist that they even made like a law to prevent colored people use the same bathroom that their guests used. Skeeter was against all of these civil rights, she wanted to make a book to interview all maids and to see how they feel about all this racism. Minny and Aibilyn, Skeeters friend’s maids, helped her to make this book, and to all people see and feel how themaids feel when they are being discriminated. They needed at least a dozen more maids, so they made it, they called 12 maids and they finally made the book which was published the day they got it. Skeeter’s friend, Hilly wanted the most to maids use different bathrooms as the guests. She was the meanest of all, she fired Minny just because she used her bathroom and made Elizabeth fired Aibilyn for alie, she supposedly stole some forks and knifes which was not true. But Karma acts immediately, Minny made her to eat her shit.
Like we all say “when good people are nice, nice things are going to come”. Minny went from a horrible boss to a great and gentle boss. Aibilyn could write more, and she published her book “The Help!” The maids were so happy because they could publish the book andeveryone could know the truth and they also gain money so they could pay everything. Hilly is such a bitch. She fired two maids in a row.
African American Civil Rights Movement:
The African American Civil Rights Movement consisted on the black people to fight for their rights and not to be discriminated. Martin Luther King was the leader of this movement, he believed that we should all live inpeace and if they protest it would be a passive protest. In the year 1955, Rosa Parks, a black woman, had to give up her bus seat because a white man wanted it, and the law says that old black people had to seat from the back to the front, and the white people have to seat from the front to the back. Parks was arrested because she didn’t want to give up her seat. Martin Luther King went to protestbecause of Parks’ arrest, he was fined because he interfered in the running of the business. She was guilty and paid a fine. The black people and other people against the racism agreed not to use the bus anymore; this would affect the company’s financial economy. In 1957, nine black students were finally accepted at school, because of an agreement made by The Little Rock School Board. When the nineblack children were going to school, they saw a lot of anti-civil rights Protestants that were blocking that way to school so they could not reach it until security got there and let them go in. Eight of all nine got graduated and the remained one got suspended for abuse. In 1960, students from different parts of the country follow the example of a black student from North Carolina; he stayed forhours with his classmates in a “racist” restaurant until the owners served them. In 1961, a group of white and black students started taking the bus which it was forbidden for black people to take buses with white people.
In the bus they sat in the seat they desired. In many bus stops they found people which didn’t like what these people where doing, so they began to fix everything by violence, but the group never gave up and continued taking the buses. President Kennedy began being friends with the first black student to enroll in a University in Mississippi. When they took him with Kennedy, in the same campus, two black students were also studying and they were killed by the marshals. In 1963, on the state of Alabama, this was like the worst place to a black family live, black woman...
