In 1972, Jerry Gandolfo and his brother Charles funded a museum to show part of the historical essence of New Orleans. The New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum is a dimenclave in the French Quarter, which tries to recreate the culture behind the voodoo religion that spread from West Africa by means of slave ships, despite its origin in Haiti.
On the other hand, theyfeature typical objects such as a musty jumble of wooden masks, portraits of famous priestesses called “voodoo queens”, human skulls and snake scales representing an animal, which is considered sacredspirit.
Jerry’s research permitted to discover the relation between voodoo and his ancestors, due to they were saved thanks to a voodoo queen, when slave revolts convulsed their sugar plantation.Charlie, who became a voodoo witch doctor, busied himself with recreating raucous voodoo ceremonies, being responsible for the renaissance of it in the city.
After the Hurricane Katrina hit, thetourism decreased in the zone, though the museum is still welcoming visitors from a wide variety of places.

Voodoo is a religion that has been practiced by thousands of peoples during decades. Until now, it produces frighten to persons who are very superstitious about the capacity of doingevil things while invocating dead spirits and trying certain techniques related to the dark side of the magic. True or not we are not able to asseverate consciously if voodoo practices really causeharmful to their victims, however there are some examples of cases in which innocents died because of malefic invocations. Moreover, the catholic religion has manifested its solid opposition againstthose kinds of rituals which objectives are to manipulate others in order to receive benefits and provoke fear.
