Without a doubt I can say that one of the most importantfactors to determine a successful learning process is the teacher, but what makes a good teacher? That is a difficult question to be answer, because it depends a lot on students and peopleperspectives, and also on the way or specific situation in which a teacher is good. It’s not only about the teacher’s knowledge of a field or about and amazing personality someone may have or the fact that theteacher cares a lot about students and their progress. What make a successful teacher are that and a lot more characteristics.
Teaching is a difficult and challenging job. It involves many elementsas: teacher's knowledge of his or her field. Students may find “good” a teacher who knows a lot about the subject they teach, can answer to questions fast and in a clear way. Teaching also involvesteaching skills; does the teacher know how to share knowledge and make a difference on student’s behavior and life? Does he or she use the right methods, models and approaches? Some people answer thefirst question, “what makes a good teacher? With something like “a great personality” and it’s because a teacher can’t be separated from it, but a teacher must consider and think about the professionalface he wants their students to perceive. A teacher also has to be able adapt different roles in the classroom. He is not only a controller when delivering instructions or directing the class, but heis also a prompter to encourage students to achieve, sometimes the teacher is an assessor when giving grades and evaluating work, some other moments the teacher is a resource of information, and he isalso a tutor when advising students.
