The Plot:
Christian Gulbrandsen, Carrie Louise's stepson pays anunusual visit to 'Stonygates'. He shows disappointment on knowing that Lewis Serrocold is not at home. He decides to wait for him. He seems to be very much concerned about the health of Carrie Louise.Lewis arrives that evening. After dinner Christian retires to his room saying that he has some letters to write.
