To kill a Mockingbird Summary

Scout Finch is a girl that lives with her brother Jem and her father Atticus in Maycomb, Alabama during Great Depression. She is 6 years old and her brother is 10. Itis summer and they met a new friend named Dill who lives with their next door neighbor. Scout, Jem, and Dill become obsessed with making Boo Radley come out. Boo Radley lives on the same street asJem and Scout, but he never comes out of his house. The summer ends, and Scout realizes she is starting her first year of school. However she lands herself into trouble again and again and she’sdetermined not to go back. After talking with her father then she decides to go back to school. When the school finishes and the summer arrives, Dill is back to Maycomb and they resume their obsession withBoo Radley. Scout spends more time with her next door neighbor, Miss Atkinson, who gives to Scout more information about Radley. Dill and Jem plan to peep into one of the windows at the Radley houseand Scout joins them, but they were almost discovered by Radley’s brother, Nathan.
Scout is now in second grade, and everything is worse for her. When winter arrives, one night, Miss Maudie’s house wason fire, and Finch’s family had to get out of their house for security but nothing else happened. When the second semester starts Scout begins to get teased at school over her father, Atticus who isbeing called “Nigger Defender” because he is defending a black man named Tom Robinson. When the next summer arrives, Scout and Jem discover that Dill with not joining them. They also find out that TomRobinson is on jail because he’s accused of raping Bob Ewell daughter, Mayella, who is white. That summer their aunt, Alexandra Finch, comes to live with them and tries to instruct them on how to bea “proper’’ Finch. One day Scout discovers than Dill is under her bed and the reason of why he ran off was because his parent aren’t just interested in him, and he spends the days alone.
