Cali was excited. She was going to play at herfriend´s house. As she was walking out the door, she heard her mother call. “Take your umbrella,” Mom said.
Cali sighed and turned around as her Mom came into the hall. “I don’t need an umbrella! It´s notraining,” Cali complained.
Call´s mom asked her to sit down on the sofa in the living room. She turned on the news.
Cali did not want to watch a weather report. She wanted to go to her friend´shouse. Cali sighed. She sat down to wait.
In a few minutes, the weather report came on. The weather forecaster pointed to a map of her state, Maryland. Cali could see her city, Baltimore, in themiddle.
West Virginia was covered with green and yellow spots .The weather forecaster explained that the green and yellow areas were a storm.

“I don´tsee anything on here,” Cali complained “Shh! Just watch,” Mom said. Just then, the map showed all of the neighboring states. Cali could see Pennsylvania, New jersey, Delaware, Virginia, and WestVirginia.

Mom shut off the TV. She asked, “So, what did you learn from the weather report, Cali?” “I heard the weather forecaster say that a stormwas coming,” replied Cali. “But the sky is not dark and gray. It doesn´t look like it´s going to rain.”
Mom asked Cali to follow her outside. Cali looked up. There were a lot of puffy white clouds inthe blue sky. The weather forecaster was wrong. There´s no need for an umbrella.
“Turn around,” Mom said. ”Look at the whole sky.” Cali turned around and looked west. The sky was different. It was...
