Public and Private Transportation
Transportation allows individuals to move to different places without any problems, so users need to be able to move easily, but it depends on whether peoplewant to travel for a cheap price and sacrifice time or they are willing to spend more money but travel with comfort and speed. By comparing and contrasting public and private transportation in theDominican Republic, it became apparent that the cost, comfortability and the deficiency of the transportation structure play major roles in decision making.
One of the main aspects that needs to beconsidered in selecting a type of transportation is the cost, which it is different between both ways of transportation. Choosing public transportation will be a way to save money and to travel longdistances from one place to another for a cheaper price. According to AMET (Metropolitan Transportation Authority) there are many kinds of transport in the country; among these can be found publiccars or conchos, buses and the Metro. On the other hand private transportation is a way more expensive because the people have to buy the vehicle and be able to afford the maintenance fee and fuel.Besides, the private transportation require a driver’s license which needs time and money in order to obtain it.
Another very important difference is the comfortability in each transport. Privatetransportation is a much more comfortable and people can get places faster, also it has a wide variety of options depending on the budget; without stopping mentioning that this transport is not subject toroutes neither schedules nor stops and the driver can go to the desired speed. On the contrary, public transportation is very uncomfortable and the person needs to travel tight, in addition to thatsometimes it takes too much time waiting for the buses or “conchos” at the bus/”conchos” stops.
