Day 1: Quito – Yacuma Forest Reserve
Early in the morning we will pick you up from your hotel and then by bus we depart from Quito (also an afternoon flight can be arranged at extra cost), travelling to the city of Tena, where we will have lunch and afterwards we will continue our overland trip to the small indigenousvillage of Santa Rosa (or San Pedro), where we will be arriving around 3.
From Santa Rosa (or San Pedro), we will navigate for about 30 minutes downstream along the Napo River by canoe toward Yacuma EcoLodge,  where our staff will welcome you with a typical cold drink. There will be time to settle in the lodge’s typical Quechua bungalows for two people.
After a short rest, and with the company ofone of our expert’s Indigenous guides, we will go to the Birds Island by canoe, where we will make a hike in the forest around the Laguna Escondida (Hidden Lagoon), an special place where we can observe different species of jungle birds: river Garzas (great egret), Great Blue Heron, King fisher, Garrapatero, Oropendolas, etc.

One of the most interesting bird is The Hoatzin (Opisthocomushoatzin), the Amazon's weirdest birds and rather shy except in mating season. It has a punk hair-do, and a bright blue face. Due to its particular smells, this bird is known as the "Stink-bird." It only eats leaves, so is rather heavy, and hence a clumsy flyer. Later on, we will canoe back to the lodge for a well deserved dinner. After dinner and weather permitting we can go in the night for silentcanoe navigation on the nearby lagoon. This gives us a very special feeling in the rainforest.

Day 2: Yacuma Forest Reserve
After breakfast in the lodge, we will make a walk of 30 minutes to visit our hosting Kichwa indigenous community. On the way you will observe the different kind of trees, plants and palms cultivated by this community and also try fruit such as bananas, plantain, cassava, papaya, pineapple, orange, sugar cane, etc.
We will continue to the small settlement where we can observe (we suggest our kind guests to buy) beautiful pottery made by the indigenous women of the Chontayacu Community, later on we will go to visit the SHAMAN of the community, where we will learn about their ancestral secrets, customs and the way of living.
Return to the lodge for lunch and after ashort rest we will go on motor canoe to visit a small museum of traps, where you will see around 10 originals traps that they use for hunting in the old times.
After this place we will go for fishing the famous piranha and the Amazonian catfish accompanied by the native local guides, who are the experts of catching fish (If you like kayaking you can go fishing or navigate on our bi-personalKayaks)
Canoe back to the lodge for a delicious dinner and have a rest for the exciting next day that it will take us for an expedition to the land of one of the most enigmatic and ancestral Tribe of the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest.
