ESTUDIO DE LA TÉCNICA ULTRA WIDE-BAND (UWB) EN APLICACIONES DE VIDEO.

RESUMEN

Debido a la aparición de nuevas tecnologías y a la gran demanda de velocidades de transferencia de datos cada vez mayores para satisfacer a los usuarios finales, es necesario implementar soluciones novedosas que sean económicas y que nos brinden una plataforma e implementación confiable y de alta calidad. Laelección del uso de la tecnología UWB (Ultra Wide-Band) es debido a que su señal es de baja potencia y cubre un amplio rango de frecuencias, la posibilidad de interferencia con otros dispositivos es mínima, sino ninguna. Además, la UWB ofrece capacidad para transmitir una gran cantidad de datos dentro de un rango de cientos de Megabits, hasta Gigabits, por lo cual sería ideal para todo tipo deaplicaciones multimedia (videojuegos, HDTV o televisión de alta definición; VoD, o video en demanda; iTV o televisión interactiva; T-Commerce o comercio por televisión; VoIP), además para conectividad y portabilidad de dispositivos electrónicos. Así la tecnología UWB, se perfila como una gran opción para conectar inalámbricamente todo los dispositivos del hogar, es decir una WPAN (Wireless PersonalArea Network). En este proyecto se presentan los aspectos generales de UWB y se explica las razones para que UWB se haya considerado como un adelanto de tecnología atractiva y como material de estudio de las distintas líneas de investigación de la carrera de Ingeniería de Telecomunicaciones de la Universidad de Pamplona. El trabajo se divide en tres capítulos en los cuales se describen losconceptos básicos referentes de UWB, el funcionamiento de esta, características importantes, la estandarización y las pruebas que se han llevado a cabo de esta tecnología.

This project presents the general aspects of UWB and explains the reasons for UWB has been considered attractive technology advancement and as study material of different lines of investigation of the telecommunications engineering degree from the University of Pamplona. The work is divided into three chapters which describe the basic concepts of UWB concerning the functioning ofthis important features, standardization and testing have been conducted in this technology.
