Introducción al módulo
You’ve almost made it to the end! Don’t forget, learning a second language is a process. Once you finish this
course, keep readingand listening in english. It will help you to remember what you have learned and you will
probably learn new things!
¡Casi llegas al final! No olvides que aprender un segundo idioma es un proceso. Por lo que, en cuanto termines
este curso, sigue leyendo y escuchando cosas en inglés. ¡Esto te ayudará a recordar lo que has aprendido y
probablemente aprenderás cosas nuevas!

In this module you willlearn how to talk about what you like, form more complex sentences, and learn new
vocabulary about people and places. For your integrating project, you will be making an advertisement for a
local business. If you have the computer skills, you can get creative with it. If you don’t, there will be a format
to follow.
En este módulo aprenderás cómo hablar sobre lo que te gusta, formar enunciados máscomplejos, y conocerás
un nuevo vocabulario sobre lugares y gente. Para tu actividad integradora, vas a realizar un anuncio publicitario
para un negocio local. Si cuentas con habilidades en el uso de programas computacionales especializados,
puedes utilizarlas en la realización de la actividad. De no ser así, no te preocupes, habrá un formato a seguir.

Competencias del módulo
Las competencias delmódulo son las siguientes:


Express preferences using manners with either the infinitive or gerund.



Produce written descriptions of places and people using relative clauses.



Expresar preferencias utilizando modales con o el infinitivo o gerundio.



Producir escritos descriptivos sobre lugares y personas utilizando cláusulas relativas.

Unidad 1. Lo que me gusta / What I like
Introducción a la unidad
You have already talked about what you doregularly, what you have done, what you will do, and what you can
imagine doing. Now you will walk about what you like to do. The good news is that you will be using much of
what you have already learned in this unit, you will just use it a little differently. You will see modals again, this
time to express preference, and we will be working mainly in the present simple.
Has hablado sobre lo quehaces regularmente, lo que has hecho, lo que vas a hacer, y lo que te imaginas
haciendo. Ahora hablarás de lo que más te gusta hacer. La buena noticia es que vas a utilizar mucho de lo que
has aprendido en este curso, sólo que ahora lo vas a usar un poco diferente. Nuevamente verás modales, en
esta ocasión será para expresar preferencias, y trabajarás principalmente en presente simple.
You willalso learn how to use gerunds and infinitives to talk about what you like. Don’t worry, you have used
both structures throughout the course.
También, vas a aprender cómo usar los gerundios y los infinitivos para hablar de lo que te gusta. No te
preocupes, ya has usado los dos este semestre.
An infinitive is the base form of a verb. It looks like this:
Un infinitivo es la base de un verbo. Se ve así:to see (ver)

to hear (oir)

The gerund is the “-ing” form of the verb, it looks like this:
El gerundio es la forma de “-ing” y se ve así:
hearing (oyendo)

seeing (viendo)
