Genghis Khan

Genghis Khan was born in the 1160’s by the name of Temujin and he was the son of a tribal chief in Mongolia. His dad was murdered in the year 1170 when Temujin was barely 9years old. In his childhood, Temujin had made a blood pact, the most sacred of all, with his best friend Jamuka, who became Temujin`s blood brother.
During time, tension grew between Temujin andtheir tribe was split up until two years later when Temujin’s and Jamuka’s tribe encountered and fought. Temujin’s tribe lost. After this loss Temujin swore to never lose again and dishonor hispeople that way.
In the year 1202 Temujin fought once again with his blood-brother for a battle that would determine the future of the Mongolian people. Temujin succeeded this time and Jamuka fledwith two of his generals. These two generals betrayed Jamuka and took him to Temujin where they expected they’re reward; instead they were executed. Jamuka asked for an honorable death and Temumjinagreed.
In the year 1206 Temujin was considered the lord of all the Mongolian tribes and from there on he was known as Genghis Khan.
In a campaign that lasted 6 years he led his armyof 50,000 men to China. Although the crossing over to China was difficult because of the Great Wall, Genghis solved this problem by using Chinese prisoners as his men to die first and break intothe city so he could enter easily with his own men.
In the years to come Genghis Khan would settle down a capital for his empire known by the name of Karakorum. His capital grew in knowledgehelped by all the people around. He later captured Persia and proposed to extend as far as he could until someone stopped him but no one could. Genghis Khan died and gave the empire to his sonOgudei, his son, who expanded the empire to twice its size. In the year 1243 the Ogudei died. A century later the empire began to fall.
Genghis Khan was one of the greatest leaders of all time.
