Underline all the verbs in the past Simple.
*Galileo Galilei was born in Italy onFebruary 15, 1564. His father was a musician and wool trader. At age 11, Galileo went to study in a monastery. After 4 years, His father took him out from the monastery because Galileo wanted tobecome a monk.
When Galileo was 17, he entered the law of the pendulum. He was bored at college, so he soon left it without a degree. He started tutoring students in mathematics. He conducted manyexperiments and, in 1610, he invented a 30-power telescope. When Galileo said that the Earth went around the Sun, the church accused him of heresy. When he was old and sick, the church put him under housearrest. He continued to investigate others.
*Isaac Newton was born on January 4, 1643, in England. When his mother remarried and settled in with her husband, she left Newton with his grandmother.
Hebecame the top student in the school. At 19, he became engaged to the apothecary’s step-daughter, Anne Storer. In a year, he entered the University of Cambridge. Isaac was born just a short time afterthe death of Galileo, one of the greatest scientists of all times. Galileo proved that the planets revolve around the Sun’, not the Earth, as people thought. Like Galileo, he realized thatmathematics was the way to explain and prove those laws. Isaac Newton is one of the world’s greatest soientists because he took his ideas and the ideas of earlier scientists, and combined them into a unifiedpicture of how the universe works. By the age of 80, he became very famous in England and died in 1727.
