Violeta parra
Early years:
-born on October 4, 1917 and died on February 5, 1967
-The daughter of music teacher and Nicanor Parra Parra Sandoval Clarisa peasant Navarrete, Violeta had fivebrothers and two half brothers.
-Violet's childhood was spent in the field, although from 1919 to 1921 the family lived in Santiago, returning that year to the south, Lautaro, then moved to Chillan andfinally settled in Villa alegre.
-His mother was busy on the sewing machine to cooperate in the maintenance of the large family. Violet was in constant conditions, including a smallpox attack threeyears.
Arrival in Santiago
-Violet moved to Santiago, invited by her brother, Nicanor, who was studying there. He resumed his studies at the Normal School for Girls, where shewas not comfortable, because it was the school song and not what interested him.
-In the early 50's, began his extensive work of collection of musical traditions in various neighborhoods in Santiagoand around the country. In these wanderings, he met several poets, including Pablo Neruda and Pablo of Rokha.
The first trips:
-In 1953 he recorded the hit singles Marriage Too bad blacks and feel thesoul, which became two of his best known songs.
-In 1957 he returned to Chile and in November he went with his children Carmen Luisa and Angel Concepcion, Concepcion hired by the university. Therehe founded the following year, the National Folk Art Museum and then back to Santiago.
-His four albums appeared in this period, the label of EMI Odeon, with several of his early compositions.
AChilean in Paris:
-In 1961 Violet went to Argentina, where he lived in General Pico and Buenos Aires in June last meeting in this city with her children Angel and Isabel and her granddaughter Tita tosail for Finland to participate in the Eighth World Youth Festival and Students in Helsinki. Then toured the Soviet Union, Germany, Italy and France, where he settled in Paris.
